Our Commitment (Services)


Is to enhance Spaza Shop’s to be the engine of economic emancipation in the Villages and Townships, so to assist our Government in achieving 6% growth of the economy and the broad based black economic empowerment.

We Aim To:
  1. Expose our members to business opportunities
  2. Train our members in business skills
  3. Co-operate with institutions to facilitate empowerment of our members
  4. Facilitate awareness in government about the plight of our members
  5. Lobby trade unions, the private sector and public to support our members
  6. Creating joint ventures with similar organizations to further these objectives.


Main Objectives


The goal of economic empowerment will be reached through dedication to the key objectives, which include:
  1. The promotion of the association of people who own and operate spaza shops and tuck shops
  2. The encouragement and facilitation of the collective association of corner stall owners
  3. The upgrading and enhancement of the working circumstances of small business persons doing business on sidewalks and pavements.
  4. The creation of jobs for the youth
  5. The provisioning of business opportunities for the unemployed and under privileged
  6. The development of opportunities for the handicapped.
  7. Training through VISTA
  8. Involvement of supportive members from organisations of graduate in consumerism part of all angles for our members.
Other Objectives
  1. To facilitate the exposure of under privileged businessperson to open a free market opportunities.
  2. To teach and educate small business enterprise i.e. spaza shops, tuck shops and pavement stall to effective management.
  3. To co-operate with other institutions or any other body or persons interested in economic empowerment to support small business enterprises.
  4. To provide training, competencies, exhibitions and programs aimed at improving understanding and creating government awareness towards pavement stalls, tuck shops and spaza shops. Supported by the University of Johannesburg (U.J) Soweto
  5. To highlight and influence trade unions, educational establishment, non-government organization and the public to support tuck shops, spaza shops and pavement stalls towards better management and economic strength.
  6. To establish and maintain relationship between similar organizations in persuit of improved performance of these objectives.
  7. To do all such other things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the foregoing objects, or any of them which may be conveniently carried on to enhance the value of or render profitably any activity, project of the company with its 3000 members nationaly.
  8. The South African Tuck Shop, Business Association (SATSBA) - More than 3000 members country wide in South Africa.
